Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Public Enterprises (SOE) on Friday officially transferred the shares of five public companies to the state-owned agro-industrial company PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia (RNI), which will serve as their food holding company.

“The establishment of the holding (company) is expected to strengthen our food sector by increasing production capacity, as well as expanding market access and food distribution networks,” said the First Deputy Minister of Enterprises. Strengthening efforts will include optimizing potential assets, improving supply chains and implementing technology for business digitization, he explained.

In addition to improving national food security, the holding will also focus on developing the food ecosystem and increasing the inclusiveness of farmers, herders and fishers, he said.

The establishment of the farm is in line with President Joko Widodo’s directive to find a qualified food state enterprise to achieve Indonesia’s 2045 vision, especially with regard to food security, Mansury added. .

The five companies whose shares have been transferred to RNI are PT Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia, PT Sang Hyang Seri, PT Perikanan Indonesia, PT Berdikari and PT Garam, he said.

The signing of the share transfer agreement between the companies took place on Friday, marking the official establishment of the holding company of the state-owned food companies, he said.

Previously, the President approved the establishment of the holding company through Government Regulation number 118/2021 on adding state participation to the share capital of PT RNI.

Meanwhile, PT RNI Chairman and CEO Arief Prasetyo Adi said the signing of the agreement, which made RNI the holding company for state food enterprises, was a milestone.

“The holding includes agriculture, fisheries, livestock, salt and logistics sectors,” he noted.

The holding company has three objectives: to support national food security; improve the inclusiveness of farmers, herders and fishers; in addition to becoming a world-class food company, he informed.

The holding company plans to launch a new brand name and logo in the near future, he added.
